5 FAVORITE IKEA HACKS

Finding the right bedroom furniture has become such a challenge. I love the designs from Horchow and Restoration Hardware, but those places are way above my pay grade, and I'm not willing to just give up and compromise with run-of-the-mill wares either. So I went on a search for a few IKEA hacks that I can recreate to add a little personality to my boudoir! Take a look at what I've got my eye on:

I'm currently recruiting handy DIYers to do this help out with the hacking of these projects. Any takers?

STYLE HOW TO: VINTAGE TEACUPS, DECANTERS + BELL JARS

It's officially. I've turned into an old married lady. My obsession with vintage stores and flea markets is at an all-time high, and now that my vintage furs have been purchased, I've now turned my sights on glassware. An afternoon of trolling Pinterest for decor ideas has led to my hunt for vintage Noritake teacups and saucers, bell jars and decanters for everyday storage.  I have tons of jewelry scattered around my bedroom and closet and wanted to display them in a pretty way.

I recently stopped in Dupre's Antique Market on Marietta Square and walked out with some pretty fancy glassware for only $50, which I'm currently using to decorate my bedroom side tables with baubles, beads and beauty accoutrements. See how I did it!

New uses for decanters: stack bracelets and necklaces!
Mini bell jars/cloche to store rings!

Votive holder for manicure tools.

The Mr. walked in the other night and noticed my now super-girly nightstand and said, "That looks like a china cabinet," which I considered a compliment.

I'm really happy with the way this project turned out. Our bedroom has a decidedly unisex feel to it with lots of neutral colors, so I wanted an area of the room that I could decorate with my personality and add a touch of femininity to. The teacups and saucers are perfect storage elements, and I'm actually considering giving teacups away as Christmas gifts to friends! Also, if you're wondering about my side table, we purchased these at Target in white and spray painted them a metallic gold, and then "roughed up" to give a textured, weathered look.

What do you think about my glassware? Is this a storage idea you would use? Leave a comment for me below!

WHAT I WORE TODAY + A KENDRA SCOTT GIVEAWAY!

It's definitely been awhile since I brought you guys an OOTD post. So as a thank you for sticking with me and visiting the blog daily, I'm hosting a giveaway!

I've lived in this Cynthia Rowley sweater coat for the past couple weeks. It's so incredibly cozy, soft and warm that it's hard to find a reason to leave it behind when getting dressed in the mornings. (P.S.-- I got it from Marshall's for only $30!) For this outfit, I threw on my favorite pair of Old Navy skinny jeans, a basic black tank from Forever 21, a really cool vintage hat I scored from a recent trip to the antique mall (only 11!) and my suede low-heel boots from Nine West.

And now for the piece de resistance, I am giving away this gorgeous "Megan Long" necklace, courtesy of my friends at Kendra Scott.  I'm really into lariats this season, and I can't wait to pair this with some of my sparkly tops and sequin skirts for upcoming holiday parties!

Giveaway starts today and will run though Friday, November 15th. Winner to be announced Monday, November 18th.

STYLE HOW TO: 4 TIPS ON CARING FOR WINTER COATS

winter coats, style how to, brains of the outfit

Here's the scenario: you've stashed your favorite winter coat(s) in the back of your closet all season long. With the first gust of Autumn breeze, you're ready to pull it out for the cooler days ahead. Only thing is, it looks horrible. It's been mushed, trampled on, wrinkled and attacked by dust bunnies. So how do you get your coat in tip top condition between now and the first cold snap? Read on:

1. Look for visible wear and tear
Cut off any loose threads and have holes mended right away.

2. De-lint
Black coats are the worst offenders when it comes to attracting lint. Use a sticky roller, lint brush or electric fabric shaver to breathe new life into wool and cashmere garments.

3. Treat stains
Use a Tide pen to remove any dried up stains trapped deep in threads. (Always look at the care tags on garments to determine if you can use a stain treater or detergent!)

4. Hang On
Always hang coats on sturdy wooden hangers to retain shape. And consider storing in a garment bag to keep the dust away.

And if all else fails, take it to the dry cleaners. Most cleaners will handle coats for just a little more money than laundering nice shirts ($10-$15). It's a worthwhile and low-cost investment, as you'll only have to do it once a year!

{DEDICATED} WARBY PARKER INTRODUCES WINTER 2013 COLLECTION

In case you didn't know, I'm a HUGE fan of Warby Parker and their line of affordable, vintage-inspired specs. It had been at least a decade since I wore glasses on a daily basis, as I couldn't find a pair that fit my style and framed my face. And last year, a good friend introduced me to WP and I've been a convert ever since. Their pick and purchase process is incredibly easy (go online, choose 5 pairs and they'll send them to you for an at home try on---for free!) and the styles work for a number of face shapes and personal aesthetics. So imagine my excitement when I heard they were launching a new winter 2013 collection, which is available on the site as of today!

The winter 2013 collection includes a mix of new shapes in five rich colors, perfect for pairing with cool-weather gear like cashmere sweaters, wool scarves and leather driving gloves! Take a look at a few of the frames up close and personal:

Chamberlain
Gorgeous, right? And as you've come to expect from the brand, all frames are $95 with prescription lenses. I'm in the market for a new pair of frames myself, so I see an at-home try-on in my future (stay tuned to the blog for that!).

In the meantime, mosey on over to www.warbyparker.com/winter-collection-2013 and find a pair to sport for the winter season!
